Nursing leadership

Nursing leadership

Think about a particular organization. How would you depict the reporting structure in this organization? What is the flow of communication and decision making between various people? Does the image in your mind match with one (or more) of the organizational structures discussed in this week’s Learning Resources? Why or why not?

For anyone working in a health care setting, looking at the organizational chart can provide useful information about the context that affects daily practice as well as the achievement of longer term goals. For managers, understanding the structure and dynamics portrayed in such a chart—as well as those that may be missing—is especially important.

For this Discussion, you analyze an organizational chart from the point of view of nursing management.

To prepare:

Obtain a copy of an organizational chart which does not have a shared governance model.
Obtain a copy of an organizational chart from a magnet hospital. You can find a list of current magnet-recognized hospitals at http://www.nursecredentialing.org/Magnet/FindaMagnetFacility
Examine both organizational charts through the lens of management (i.e., think about the responsibilities and concerns that you, as a manager, may have).
Review Marquis and Huston (2015) page 279, Display 12.5 The 14 Forces of Magnetism for Magnet Hospital Status and Learning Exercise 12.4
Think about how the organizational charts align?
Think about how communication actually occurs at your organization.
By Day 3

Post and Compare and contrast the organizational chart you identified to the shared governance model on Marquis and Huston (2015, p. 277). Consider major components of organizational structure and communication such as centrality and decentralization. Describe at least five of the “forces of magnetism” and compare how the magnet and non-magnet organizations meet them or need improvement in these areas (Marquis & Huston, 2015, p. 279, Display 12.5).

The Political, Legal and Technical Environment

The Political, Legal and Technical Environment

Consider and explain the political, legal and technical environment dimensions facing Hitachi, when referring to the “Internet Exercise: Hitachi Goes Worldwide” on page 60 in the textbook. Complete this assignment by answering the following questions: 1) What kind of products and systems does the firm offer? What are its primary areas of emphasis? 2) In what types of environments does it operate? Is Hitachi primarily interested in developed markets, or is it also pushing into newly emerging markets? 3) Based on what it has been doing over the last two to three years, what do you think Hitachi’s future strategy will be in competing in the environment of international business?

Write a one to two page paper summarizing your findings. The written summary should be double-spaced using 12-point Times New Roman font. You will need to cite your sources of information (at least three) at the end of your paper. Though the paper need not be in APA format, the citations at the end do. One of those three citations may be from the Luthans and Doh textbook, and one citation may come from an online website. However, at least one of these three citations should be from the NAU Online Library. How does other countries than USA and Japan accommodate disabilities

How does other countries than USA and Japan accommodate disabilities

As part of a global environment, managers need to be aware of many legal regulations and customs of the countries they do business with. For this assignment, you will focus on how different countries accommodate disabilities.

To begin with, revisit how the U.S. accommodates disabilities through the Americans with Disabilities Act. Next, choose a country other than the United States and Japan to research. Study how disabilities are accommodated in that country (e.g., is there an equivalent to the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations in school, accessible areas, etc.?) Compare and contrast these accommodations with the U.S. information on how disabilities are accommodated here.

Be sure to include a short overview of the selected country and/or culture as a whole. Also include how the accommodation of disabilities affects the management of a diverse, international workforce. Submit an APA-formatted, 3-page paper on the topic, including appropriate citations as outside research is required.

The civil engineering .

The civil engineering .

Part 1 :

Use the CFR to locate 5 relevant citations (location to meaning) and then 5 relevant meanings in the CFR (meaning to location).

Selects 5 places in the 1926 CFR and note the following:

The correct reference only (no text– only the way the citation is noted, e.g., 29 CFR 1926.501(1)).
Determine in 25 words or less what this citation in (1) above actually means
part 2:

ANALYZING SUBPART C

In the same manner as the previous assignment about CFR citations, name and describe at least five (5) important aspects of Subpart c in 29 CFR 1926.,

Correct reference only.
Determine in 25 words or less what this citation in (1) above actually means.
For example:

29 CFR 1926.20 (b) 2
Such programs shall provide for frequent and regular inspections of the job sites, materials, and equipment to be made by competent persons designated by the employers.
part 3 :

Download the attached file “SAFM 470 Abstract Protocol.” In a maximum of three pages, prepare an abstract (summary of key points) on Subpart C according to the guidelines included in the abstract protocol.

Some things to keep in mind while you work on this assignment:

You will probably experience difficulty with abstracts at first, but this goes away with practice.
Simpler is better; there is no need to write ten pages on a subpart because an abstract summarizes the key points
The important part to each abstract is 4.3: EHS duties. If the EHS manager is responsible for training at your place of employment, that duty does there; if the EHS manager selects the competent person, the duty goes there;if the EHS manager performs the frequent and regular inspections, the duty then goes in 4.3. Remember that upper management and middle management typically have very few hands-on type EHS duties.
last part :
A- What one theme seems to run through the top ten OSHA violations in construction? Write a post addressing this subject, and then comment on at least two of your classmates’ posts.

B-

In the following eleven (11) images provided by OSHA, you are going to see photos of hazards that should be obvious to you by Week 4, but which may have multiple smaller hazards embedded. Your job is to name at least one (and hopefully more) hazard to workers for each image. Check other students’ posts to see if anyone spotted anything different than you.

Discretionary Cost Analysis

Discretionary Cost Analysis

This is the book that is needed for reference.
Zimmerman, J. Accounting for Decision Making and Control 9th Edition, 2017 978-1-259-56455-0 McGraw Hill

1- Written Assignment: P 5-5 Discretionary Cost Analysis
2- Free Discussion Topics: Free discussions are topics of the students choosing but relevant to the chapter learning in the class. Discussion #1 –Must be presented in a “Compare and Contrast” forum, which is an analysis of similar and dissimilar areas of two subjects and a concluding summary. (subject Markets versus Firms chapter 4)
• Example: In Chapter 4, we learned about decision rights management and the concepts of centralized vs. decentralized decision-making power. Regardless of where an organization choses to house its decision-making power, there are key foundations that must be followed to ensure the process is followed and works efficiently:
o Central and decentralized decision-making must both be systematic and consistent. If the process is not followed, the organization could experience potentially negative impacts from those without the proper knowledge, experience, and leadership making uninformed decisions. Additionally, the process must be consistent; i.e. decision-making rights increase with responsibility and leadership within groups across the organization or all follow a decentralized approach where decision-making capabilities are spread throughout the organization.
o The basis of centralized and decentralized decision-making are both implemented as a means of control throughout the organization. Without a decision-making system process in place, a firm will fail as it lacks organization, direction, and leadership. Having a scattered approach is frustrating and leads to tensions within an organization. By having a decision-making process in place will provide for consistency and order.
o Decision-making processes foster responsibility and leadership skills. Whether an organization utilizes centralized or decentralized decision-making practices, it enables those with decision-making rights to be empowered. Through empowerment, these individuals will commit to more responsibility in the areas of their control and be more accountable for their respective areas.
As learned in the text, many differences also exist in these two approaches:
o Centralized and decentralized decision-making processes follow different structures. A centralized approach is more vertical, going up the organization; decision-making authority increases with that of managerial level and span of responsibility. On the other hand, a decentralized approach is more horizontal and spread across the organization and throughout various levels of responsibility and control. Decentralization of authority is more promoting of employee empowerment as it allows employees to make decisions which pertain to them and that are in their ‘wheelhouse’.
o An important factor to consider in terms of decision-making structure is that of time. A centralized approach tends to take longer for approval or denial of a decision. As decision-making rights increase with that of responsibility throughout a centralized organization, the time needed to make a decision also increases as it lies with limited individuals. Busy schedules, competing priorities, time away from the office, etc. can all hinder a centralized decision-making process whereas a decentralized approach is more flexible as more individuals exist to spread the responsibility and decision-making authority amongst.
o Organizational size also plays a part in the decision-making process. Centralized decision-making works best in a small organization where responsibility for decisions is held by few, but yet the time to reach decisions is also minimized. On the other hand, decentralized decision-making practices work best in large organizations where responsibility is held by many and decisions can be determined in a relatively short amount of time when given to the proper individual(s).
In research of the compare and contrasts of centralized and decentralized decision-making methods, it is evident that many contrasts exist; however, there are also many commonalities that must exist to ensure the processes are efficient. In the end, it is really what works best for the organization. It may depend upon organizational size, industry, longevity, etc. but also boils down to where management wants to house its responsibility and liability within the organization.
