In 500-700 words, describe the common standards and policies that both impact and are impacted by using social media resources. Consider the following in your response:
Why would a health professional want to use social media as a means to connect clients with community resources?
What are the benefits and risks when referring clients to a natural support/community resource?
What risk factors are involved in your decision making as it relates to community resource referral?
Use at least three reliable resources to support your arguments.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
Waste Management
The term paper is a minimum of 2000 words, not including footnotes, citations, headers, or titles.
The first page, approximately, will identify the case you have chosen (title and case number) and then summarize the topic in the text.
The remainder of the paper will be a research and analysis thesis about the subject related to the text case.
Some questions which you may consider are:1. What are the major issues facing the public organizations in the case you have chosen? 2. Did the solution presented seems be the best, based on the real-world issues and the issues that this class has reviewed? 3. What else could or should be done in this case? 4. Would the solutions be similar in your local jurisdiction? Why or why not?
You don’t need to cover all these questions. Rather you need to find an issue that relates to the case, once you have reviewed the case, and discuss that issue.
Papers must include a summary of the article and then cover a topic related to the article, otherwise the student will receive no credit for the paper.
Papers must effectively cover the topic and they will be graded on content, material, research and analysis related to issues dealing with public management.
They must be free of spelling and grammatical errors and employ proper research form, including references. Papers must be the original researched work of the student exclusively for this class, and must be submitted by the date outlined in the syllabus or they will receive no credit.
The paper is to be a formal research paper: thesis driven, with citations and a bibliography. I have extremely high expectations on the quality of the paper and each of you should understand that grammatical and spelling errors, as well as poor organization, incorrect information, insufficient or poor sources, and unsupported theses will result in a reduced grade. All papers should be carefully edited.
OSCM principles
One of the most important competencies that the MBA program hopes to develop in its students is principle application skills; that is, to be able to understand foundational principles, theories, and concepts, and apply them to real-world business contexts. This assignment will provide you an opportunity to practice these skills as you will identify a production or service problem in your organization or that of a client; the problem must be real at the time you work on the assignment. You will write an analysis highlighting the specific production/service process challenge. It is critical that you include the company’s mission/vision statements as relate to the problem. The required outline of the paper shall follow: Introduction, Company Background (includes company’s mission and vision) , Production/Service process problem, Conceptual Framework (This is based on relevant concepts and principles covered in periods 1 and 2 only. Identify at least three OSCM principles and discuss each principle according to the existing literature only.), Current production method(s), Findings (analysis and solutions to the problem based on the OSCM framework), and Recommendations. These elements form as required sections in your paper. In the discussion of findings, include an analysis of the problem’s root causes and other issues relevant to the framework identified. Prepare your initial recommendations based on the findings. Your case must demonstrate knowledge and application of course content (OSCM concepts and principles) covered in Periods 1 & 2.
Format: This is a principle applications paper that targets a specific industry. Ten peer-reviewed references are required. The paper should be appropriately organized to clearly outline and describe the items mentioned above in the Content section, and should be 2000 words in length. Use the APA Writing style format. Double space is required.

Literature Research Essay
Literature Research Essay
This written assignment requires students to formulate a specific topic according to their own interests and preferences that engages with the overall anthropological focus of the course. Selecting their personal topic – i.e. on changing marriage patterns in a given community, on same-sex marriage in a given setting, or on ideas about femininity in a given society –, students will then produce a 1500 to 1800 word essay, using at least five (5) academic (mainly anthropological) sources, a maximum two (2) of which can be taken from the course’s required reading texts. APA style will be used for references and bibliography (a style guide is provided for download from the course Moodle site).
This assignment requires you to write a short essay that uses a combination of course resources and academic resources that you will research for yourself. The overall goal is for you to challenge common sense ideas around a given topic relevant to the course and to demonstrate why it is necessary to use a critical anthropological perspective in analyzing this particular phenomenon.
As a next step, you will need to research the available literature on that topic and ascertain that you have enough (and not too much) material to write about that topic and, in so doing, challenge commonsensical notions on that topic by making a valid anthropologically minded argument. What is important here is to demonstrate the difference between popular perceptions of a subject and the more complex and specific reality that anthropological analysis provides.
Anthropology is concerned with correcting misconceptions about culture by using critical and historical perspectives on how societies develop and what that means for people living in them. Your Literature Research Essay allows you to practice your critical anthropological lens by focusing in on one of the key topics of the course, investigating how it presents itself in a social context of your choosing – e.g. in Canadian Inuit society, in the LGBTQ community in Rio de Janeiro, in rural Southern Nigeria, among low-income inhabitants of Paris, in colonial Samoa, etc. At the same time, it invites you to demonstrate how the knowledge conveyed in the course challenges commonly held and often ‘naturalizing’ ideas about sex, gender, the body, sexuality, kinship, or marriage. In order to reach the best possible result in your analysis, try to make your focus as specific as you possibly can – i.e. define your focus as narrowly as your literature will allow.
You will have to use at least 5 different academic sources (book chapters, journal articles, books), most of which should have an anthropological focus. At least 3 of these sources should come from your own independent literature research while the remaining 2 can consist of required readings assigned in class. Films watched in class, e.g., may be used as additional sources. If you intend to use lecture material to support your argument, make sure you actually access the literature referenced in the lecture slides (check the presenter comments on the respective slides); the PDF slides themselves do not count as a viable literature source for your bibliography.
nutrition
RESEARCH PROJECT
You will be required to research a nutrition topic of your choice*. You must collect at least three research** articles on your topic, from accredited journals, i.e. The Journal of Clinical Nutrition or JAMA (the Journal of the American Medical Association) or any of the other journals available at the library or on the library’s database. You must include a Bibliography of articles read and the weblink if available. The final project will consist of the following components: 1- A summary of your topic of choice, including the issues of concern or what research is being done and why. 2- Include a bibliography of work cited. 3- Write a brief summary of each research article including who the subjects were, how many subjects were involved, what exactly was being studied, how the study was set up and what the results and conclusions were (a paragraph or so on each article.) 4- Then you must write your own conclusion on the topic relating to the research you just read and what you learned from your readings. *Topics must be specific, i.e., not simply “Vitamin A” but “Vitamin A and Cancer Prevention” or not just “Pediatric Nutrition” but “Parental Influence on Food choices of Children.” You should scan the research out there and hone in on a topic of interest. The actual detailed project is up to you. **Research articles must have subjects, methods, experiments and conclusions. It must be the original research NOT an article about research. Not all articles in journals are original research, choose carefully.
The Distinction Between Leadership and Management
Topic: The Distinction Between Leadership
and Management
Think of the managers you have reported to thus far in your career. Now consider the people you have worked with or know of that you would consider leaders. Based on these experiences, what would you surmise about the responsibilities of managers and leaders and about the distinctions between these two categories in healthcare settings?
This week’s Learning Resources classify management and leadership (which are often confused in everyday discussion) and explain their significance for health care organizations. As you advance professionally, it is critical to understand the distinctions between management and leadership and how you can apply this knowledge for increasing effectiveness in your workplace.
To Prepare:
• Review the information in the Learning Resources (Chapters 2 and 3; including hard copy resources). Marquis, B.L. & Huston, C.J. (2017). Leadership roles and management functions in nursing: Theory and application (9th ed.). Philadelphia, PA: Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins.
• Conduct additional research on your own and select at least two current, credible sources that contribute to your understanding of management and leadership.
• Reflect on how the roles of management and leadership differ in supporting the organization to set and achieve goals.
• Drawing upon specific examples from a current or previous practice setting, bring to mind someone who seemed to be a leader but not a manager and someone who seemed to be a manager but not a leader (generally speaking, or within a specific circumstance). Be prepared to support your assessment with specific behavioral descriptions found in the literature.
To Complete:
1) Write an analysis of how management and leadership roles differ in terms of supporting an organization to set and achieve goals.
2) In addition, post descriptions of an individual who demonstrates leadership behaviors but not management behaviors and an individual who demonstrates management behaviors but not leadership behaviors. Provide your rationale, identifying specific characteristics of effective managers and leaders. (Note: Do not identify these individuals by name, position, or location.)
*Must include an introduction, body, and conclusion, to include headings/subheadings for compartmentalization.
personal response
Assignment: Write a personal response (minimum 500 words) to a book on a mathematical topic.
What’s a “Book on a Mathematical Topic”?
Do not use a textbook as your subject! I’m thinking here of books about mathematics and
mathematicians. The Alberta College library has a decent selection of these sorts of books. There is a list of
suggestions on Blackboard, but feel free to explore others as well. If you’re not sure whether your selection
is appropriate, please ask. Note that books on numerology are almost certainly not acceptable.
Marking Scheme: the essay will be marked out of a possible twenty marks as follows:
Form: 5 marks. This covers questions of neatness, presentation, grammar, spelling, organization, and so
on.
Content: 15 marks, assigned roughly as follows:
• 5 marks: You’ve addressed the topic
• 10 marks: I can tell that the book made you think
• 15 marks: You make me think
The essay is worth 2% marks as a bonus, on top of all assignments and tests, including the final exam.
Remember that I know what a spelling mistake spelling mistake is. I’m expecting an essay that’s both well
written and thought-provoking.
Note: Submission of plagiarized work will result in a 2% penalty being applied to your overall mark.
Plagiarism is a serious academic offense. If you want to use other people’s works, make sure you cite them
properly. And make sure you include some of your own ideas. If you don’t understand this paragraph,
please don’t attempt this assignment.
Suggestions/Hints: Talk about why you chose the book you chose. What attracted you to it? What is the
book about? Is it well-written? How did reading it change your understanding of mathematics?
Malcolm Gladwell’s “What College Rankings Really Tell Us”
Please read Malcolm Gladwell’s “What College Rankings Really Tell Us”
In this essay, Gladwell makes a comparison between the rankings of car models and rankings of colleges. Through this comparison, Gladwell finds a flaw in the way cars and colleges are ranked and, at the same time, he makes a fundamental point about all evaluations that compare items. What flaw does Gladwell see in the way colleges are evaluated and ranked?
Also, please end your essay by asserting which three criteria would you use to rank colleges? Please explain why your choice of these criteria are important for anyone interested in attending college.
Rhetorical Analysis of an Advertisement
For this assignment, you must select an advertisement with the purpose of analyzing how it uses gender to sell a product. I recommend that you find a commercial to analyze using You Tube. If you have one in mind, you should be able to find it pretty easily by searching youtube.com. Magazines are also very good sources for print ads that use gender as a selling point quite often.
As you pick your ad, ask yourself these questions: Is the audience for this ad either male or female? Is the ad targeting or selling to one particular gender? How are they doing that? If the ad is NOT necessarily selling to one gender, what ideas, assumptions, or stereotypes do we see about gender being displayed in the ad? Remember that ads are selling a “lifestyle”—an image of a perfect life or close-to-perfect life. What does the ad assume is the ideal lifestyle for men and/or women?
Your paper will use the lessons we learn in class on analysis, description, and responding to a text. In your paper, you should describe the ad, analyze the elements of it that make it a good ad, and make an argument about 1) what audience it reaches and 2) how it reaches its audiences. What visuals or jokes or themes does it use to appeal to its audience? Use the Rhetorical Analysis handout posted on D2L to ask questions about the ad to lead to your argument. Your paper should include the following:
•A clear introduction and conclusion that are separate paragraphs from the body. Your intro will include your thesis, and your conclusion will remind the reader of your thesis without repeating it exactly.
•A clear and detailed description of the ad and what happens in it. You need to clearly state who the company is and what product they are selling.
•A thesis statement that states who the audience of the ad is and how the ad reaches that audience.
•Structure and development. Although I have no rule about paragraph number for this paper, I expect your paragraphs to be appropriately sized and developed, and organized in a logical and effective order. I recommend 4-5 paragraphs in total.
•Proofreading: fix errors that you already know about and make sure that the paper is formatted correctly and looks good, in MLA format. You will need one citation on the Works Cited page, for the ad. No other research will be done for this paper.
•Reflecting lessons learned in class and online. In class, we will go over thesis statements, paragraphs, development, formatting, grammar, etc. Your paper should show that you paid attention to these lessons. In other words: take notes!
•Your paper should be a minimum of 800 words long (although it’s ok if you go over). It will be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman size 12, NOT bolded or enlarged. Your header should follow the MLA format as described in our lessons.
