the function of VP in children will be emphasized, after all, it’s the reason why we take this operation. The VP can save life. Specially, you mention the fact that China is a developing country, when children were adimited our hospital, most of them have serious ICP, and multi-systems disorder, immediate resection the tumor is not a wise choice. So, VP has significantly influence for prepare resection tumor. The operation may be take two steps, the first step is VP, wen children’s condition become better, take the second step to resection tumor. Total 24 patients were admited in our pediatric neurosurgery department from december 2010 to december 2012 .. out of which 14 underwent pre-operative vp shunt whereas 9 patients only underwent tumor resection surgery.
