Guidance / Brief: One essay on differing approaches to social science research, chosen one from the
following essay questions:
1. Compare and contrast the methodological and theoretical approaches of two different pieces
of social science research exploring the same topic/issue.
2. Critically evaluate the use of quantitative methodologies within the social sciences. Include
examples of social science research in your answer.
3. Critically evaluate the use of qualitative methodologies within the social sciences. Include
examples of social science research in your answer.
