Aspects of the child’s development, you will likely need to observe the child’s behaviors in a setting that will allow for the manifestation of a range of different behaviors. Situations that may prove more amenable to generating a range of behaviors may be ones in which the child is interacting with other children or with a group of adults. It would be less likely that the child would have the opportunity to demonstrate the range of their abilities if you were to observe them playing alone. Remember to place your observations in the context of the developmental stages described in your textbook.
