8 pages or so. 2000 words give or take 100 words. Put the word count on the cover page.
7-10 scholarly sources such as those found in our text books. A few solid books should be included and no internet sources unless they are academic journals or scholarly websites. Most of the research should be from articles, books and printed sources.
The topic should have a specific thesis related to Northern Canada. The body of the essay proves this thesis with research and arguments. Please do not veer off and speak of issues which are not specifically about the “North”-and do not write about a topic which is not about Northern Canada.
3-4 foot or end notes per page is about right. Do not use a series of Ibids as this indicates taking chunks of material from one source as opposed to integrating it into an original essay.
