Read Boucher Chapters 12 and 13.

Succinctly summarize the contributions of Smith, Rousseau, and Burke in relation to their influence on current IR theory. How did the various Enlightenment thinkers we’ve discussed imagine the State of Nature would be? What influence did colonialism have on their writings and how did their ideas contribute (or not contribute) to revolutions in the Americas and Europe? (Write about whichever revolution(s) with which you are most familiar: USA, France, Haiti, Venezuela, Argentina, etc. You do not have to write about them all.) Include a current event and describe how this week’s authors can contribute to our understanding of the event you chose.
