This assignment is designed to assess learning outcomes:
1. Appreciate the historical and social context of specific international human rights treaties and utilise a feminist critique to assess their comparative achievement.
2. Critically examine the sources of and theoretical underpinnings of international human rights, with particular concern for gender and feminist jurisprudence, and including the extent of and justification for specific women’s rights.
3. Critically evaluate the comparative merits and shortcomings of specific treaties concerned with gender and discrimination, and analyse particular substantive definitions and their impact on international law.
4. Appreciate the effect of regional and cultural interpretation of specific human rights and investigate the role and nature of enforcement.
