As Jim Cummins states in his article A Framework for Reversing School Failure, power and status relations between dominant and subordinated groups exert a major influence in children’s learning and development in the classroom (40). How do larger power relations and unequal social conditions impact children’s learning and development, particularly with our culturally and linguistically diverse students? With particular attention to race, culture, language, and class/socioeconomic status, please discuss how such power relations impact the interactions between teachers and students within classrooms. Make sure to cite at least three authors for each essay. Each of the three essays should be the equivalent of at least two single spaced pages. Make sure you have a strong thesis for each essay and a clear organizational structure.
